We have used this vet for many years. My dog passed away last night at MSU last night. I asked them to send recent bills via fax to my pet insurance company and also informed them about my loss. The receptionist just said just "Ok." No single kind word like "sorry for your loss." It took long time to be seen for my old dog (almost 18 years old). I did enough check up including blood tests. They did not bother to check mouth. They did not notice many things. There are great vets and techs. But recently, I feel like they are not as good as before. I would not recommend this clinic anymore, especially for geriatric dogs. They do not have enough experience about older dogs and their cares. Seems something are changing.

My golden retriever had surgery at this location to remove his fatty tumors. Of course I was super nervous about the whole thing. The strangest thing was that I never had a consult with the surgeon or anyone that seemed to have a clue how the surgery was going to go. Every time I went in (to get drains taken out, staples out) it was always a different “doctor” but never got the doctor that did the surgery and never really knew what they did or how the surgery went. It was very messy after the surgery with the drains and wasn’t told how to take care of them. They didn’t remove the entire tumor it didn’t look like. None of the doctors seemed to have a good answer to the questions I had... I just know my dog hates the vet now and he usually loves it.
I used Southkent for years and both my large and small animals received great care! Unfortunately something has changed with their office/staff and I have had many terrible experiences recently. From poor surgeries, to getting my animals records mixed up with inaccurate information (prior to a major surgery) and now not working with over the counter med needs. Just be very careful. What used to be a great friendly clinic has certainly slid to a lower level:/
